This is more an idle question but does anyone know if you can refuse to be given an award in the military? Like if someone thought they were undeserving, didn’t earn it, or otherwise was contemptuous could they just refuse. Or is this a mandatory fun day type situation where the military just kinda forces it on folks.

Mostly just curious since as a person I would sooner murder and disgrace myself than receive a medal.
