That’s a very short version of Niemöller’s text. The original doesn’t even include Jews because it was written even before the Reichtsprogromnacht. The text is called “Schuldgeständnis” (confession of guilt) because it really is autobiographical. Later in life, he was part of the peace movement but he stayed a homophob all his life.
