We surveyed 1,012 adults living in the United States about their interactions and relationships with artificial intelligence systems and computer systems. We used the Surveymonkey audience census balancing to ensure an even representation of adults from across the nation, age groups, income ranges, and other factors.
Yeah … I’m not comfortable with Surveymonkey results with some P-value dragging being offered as academically useful study.
The only thing that makes this reasonable (to me) would be if a qualifying question was “have you ever used a chatbot”. 1/3 would still be high, though another commenter notes that it’s actually closer to 1/4, but still. I can potentially believe 1/3 people who have interacted with chatbots have had some kind of romantic interaction with them. I don’t want to come across as anti-science, but the results are very strange, even if it was just 1/4 people who have used a chatbot in the first place.
i do not believe those numbers

Yeah. I know that I sound like some head-in-the-sand denialist but I straight up do not believe the numbers
