Oh it did not even occur to me that it’s that time of the year again. The only times that this time change stuff has effected me in my adult life was one fall, I showed up to class an hour early once or I went to do some government work an hour early. I live in Saskatchewan and the showing up to class an hour early was because my phone decided I was not in Saskatchewan, after that mix up I have stayed on top of making sure my electronics do not believe I follow that silliness. Years later while I was working for Statistics Canada the stupid software had no idea how to handle Saskatchewan not following that silliness so I showed up to someones home and hour early.

we have been having a variant of this headline appear ubiquitously every six months for decades.

we all know it’s a dumb idea, and we all agree that the science and data prove it, so why do we still have it?

well - because Ontario says we can’t change if New York doesn’t, and New York says we can’t change if Ontario doesn’t. it’s like a big unnecessary game of chrono-chicken. one of these regions needs to just go plowing straight ahead. the loser will absolutely end up copying the winner.

ps - Chrono Chicken would be an awesome band name.

Did New York say that? I thought Ontario and Quebec had passed bills that would end it as soon as NY also did it.

Omg yes. 100000000000 times yes. I don’t care which we keep (though I’d prefer the summer time if I had to choose, but I’ll take any at this point).

Just don’t do permanent DST. It’s bad for our health, it’s bad for kids, and it doesn’t make sense.

    Just do proper solar time.

It’s never been proper solar time from the beginning. The timezone boundaries are distorted to align with political boundaries, which messes up any alignment with solar time.

Times can be adjusted. The problem isn’t the time at which things happen, it’s that it cycles back and forth,

No thanks. I’m headed to work in the dark regardless if it’s DST or Standard. Let me at least see the sun on my way home.

Oh, well, I mean, study after study has shown permanent daylight time is terrible for childrens’ development, but if it’s convenient for you I guess we should lol

Not sure where they did this study, but around here, kids that have to be at school for 8:00 are going in during the dark regardless of DST or not. Plus, they already delayed the switch by nearly a month “for the children” so they are not out in the scary dark for Halloween. So which is it?

On the solstice sure, but you still increase the number of days per year when that happens.

What a bold stance on a trivial matter in a time of multiple simultaneous existential crises.

So brave. So wise. This is peak Leadership.

Yeah. Imagine an MP discussing something their constituents almost all want. What a piece of shit.
