Allowing an american hedge fund to take over most Canadian newspapers was a huge mistake.

Hmmm I disagree here. First building and destroying are not equal so there may not be much one party can do when the other one destroys something; therefore, you seem to be taking a position that the Liberals (in this case) should have done something not even knowing if “something” is actually possible

Second, I sort of agree Canadians may not care much but that is in huge part to them not knowing/understanding what the situation is.

Just now I forwarded this list to my list of contacts and most were surprised by at least a few of the entries in that list

The idea that it’s impossible to deal with is hilarious. You can be frustrated and down vote me for refusing to be an armchair politician giving worthless advice on an unrealistic pipedream regarding what to do exactly as if I’m at all in a position to open my uneducated gob on specifics I don’t understand though if you want.

I don’t get how you find the idea that something is impossible “hilarious” (not that I said it was, that was just me making an argument) yet accept you know absolutely nothing about it. If you find it hilarious, I would assume you know of at least a few avenues to address it.

We are in a very informal forum to share ideas, I am not asking for an actionable plan I will put take to my office as an MP. I am simply asking what can be done about foreign ownership of newspapers.

What is your opinion worth overall if you take an absolute hard stance on topics you apparently knew fuck all about and refuse to back it when asked out of benign curiosity?

All I implied was basically I’d vote for someone who promised to try and nkw you’re tearing my head off for being honest. You come across like a hostile git so I’m not willing to engage with you further.

All I implied was basically I’d vote for someone who promised to try

Where? you never, ever, said anything about voting. You simply threw the libs under the bus for inaction when the cons were pointed as the authors of this mess. Was I supposed to derive from that that you’d vote Greens if they promised to fix it?!

…and nkw you’re tearing my head off for being honest.

Where do you get that? I am perhaps more confrontational because when I ask for your ideas you basically told me it wasn’t “your job” which I found rude… more importantly, again I also found rude you imply something is absolutely doable yet refusing to share an inkling of an idea how… and now you call me a hostile git (don’t even know what that means) because I am explaining myself

It is easy to misunderstand TONE in written comments, much more so in short written comments. If I misunderstood you, I apologize. All I wanted was to get an idea what can be done legally about foreign ownership of newspapers.
