I wouldn’t automatically believe him either. I have no idea what prisoners in the US can really expect but at the minimum prisons are required to maintain livable conditions, so that means reasonable temperature, and access to proper sanitation, although not necessarily in the cell itself.
I can totally believe the cell doesn’t have access to hot water, due to the obvious safety risk of giving problem prisoners access to hot water, but if that’s the case he will absolutely have access to public showers, and being the amazing alpha male that he is, I’m sure he has no problem at all with using communal facilities.
He’s just trying to get some sympathy because he knows that if he ends up getting deported, he’s screwed.
I don’t like him. But prisons should be a place to put people with some dignity. The punishment is taking away their freedom.
