I have ordered chips from many chip shops. There can be discrepancy on amount of chips or the amount of salt and viniger. There is never a discussion on what chips are or there thickness.

I’m firmly American, but if I say GBP and “chips” I’d assume thick cut fries and not potato or corn chips.
