Democrats on Tuesday seized control of the U.S. House, flipping the chamber after four years in the minority wilderness to usher in a new era of divided government, Decision Desk HQ projects.
The change will have immediate repercussions for the workings of Washington next year, slamming the brakes on President Trump’s legislative agenda and setting the stage for countless clashes between the House and White House over everything from immigration enforcement and government spending to Trump’s global tariffs and the Iran war.
Democrats have vowed to launch an exhaustive list of investigations into Trump and his inner circle, featuring deep dives into the Jeffrey Epstein scandal; the violence that’s accompanied Trump’s deportation surge; and the president’s personal and family finances, which have ballooned since his return to office last year.
It’s a bloodbath for Republicans. But, this isn’t an endorsement of democrats. This is just “throw the bums out”. I hope the democrats are smart enough to realize this.
I suspect they won’t be. I would bet that Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer think that this is a massive vote for their leadership, and that they delivered a huge win. I have little doubt they’re going to claim that this result means they have a huge mandate and that the American people love them.
The following few months will reveal if Chuck Schumer and whoever will be Speaker of the House will actually use their powers to stop Trump and ease socioeconomic pressure off the working class or do nothing and hide behind decorum. There’s also the concern of Sinemas and Fettermans hiding among the Democrat ranks ready to betray their party in critical votes.
WE MUST UNFUCK EVERYTHING THAT PROJECT 2025 DID - AND MORE
If you have a Dem House rep, start calling tomorrow telling them we can’t afford to waste time on Jefferies as speaker.
We won’t get someone like AOC (I’d love it if we did) but bare minimum it needs to be someone on the same general page as Dem voters. And Jefferies doesn’t.
They cannot waste any time on not starting the investigations and the hearings on all of these motherfuckers, too.
Hit. The. Ground. Running.
If there is not already a “Project 2027” for Democrats, they need to write one.
They have communicated that they will reinstate the ACA subsidies that were cut, and take a hard look at the Iran strategy. And focus on cost of living. Thats it. No taxing the rich. No medicare for all. Not a single word about zionists and foreign influence and war crimes. Nothing about Ukraine. They dodge and weave around Epstein and they have stated explicitely that they wont look to impeach. Not a lot about about climate change. Nothing about reigning in ICE. They claim this is them being “hyper focussed on the economy”.
even as of a few hours ago they are on script.
But this is what we saw leading up to today:
https://www.mediaite.com/politics/kamala-harris-advises-democrats-not-to-impeach-trump/
https://truthout.org/articles/schumer-takes-no-action-as-even-far-right-calls-for-trump-impeachment/
I came here to say this. Jefferies is watching these results having already crowned himself speaker in his mind, and will sit on that power like a dragon on gold for two years, doing nothing with it.
He needs a challenger and the sooner they can build momentum before the next Congress is seated, the better.
Yes, thank you. This is the correct approach, prioritize and organize.
As of posting this comment, AP has the House races at 92:50 and NBC at 102:49, both in favor of Democratic party (100 about 300 races not yet called). So … seems a bit premature to be calling the whole House majority at this point.
It’s being called now

While I fully expect the Democrats to win the House, I don’t think the races in question have actually been called yet?
Seems like The Hill is declaring it prematurely for clicks.
You can predict an overall result of an election, without calling every single seat, based on statistics.
In Australia, this regularly happens where e.g. only a third of seats have been called, but the margins and swings are so great that it’s clear who has won, just not the exact result.

Don’t go making claims like that BEFORE ALL THE POLLS CLOSE EVEN
Everyone that can out west get in and do the thing, every last nail that can be driven into his coffin should be.

Yes stats are a thing, my concern in the past couple weeks has been all the ‘he will lose soooo bad’ polls putting people into a complacent mindset. Both times he was elected it was that same message and people seemed to take it as ‘someone else will take care of it’.
The guy needs to be constantly looking over his shoulder knowing nobody is there to save him. I don’t ever recall an election where ‘state of democracy’ or similar was a top issue in so many places which says a lot for what damage he did in 2 years.
House was basically a given. Really nice seeing that Senate needle all the way to the left as well, though.
Yep. The real question is if they can get to 54 or 55, giving them the need to find 2 or 3 Fettermans instead of 1. Schumer will find it harder to resist the progressives the more of a majority he has.
2 years of stale mates and nothing passing, here we go
Better than what we just got
That’s what I was getting at
Let’s fucking go
jeffries better be up to the task and not just there to cash israels checks.
