Boomers are the most disconnected and spoiled of all the generations ever. No generation ever before (or since) had it so easy (buying a home for like $30k from a minimum-wage factory-job that required no education while their health insurance covered everything for like $2), denies their children basic necessities for their well-being, are guaranteed social security while preventing its sustainability for their children, and thinks they had it hard. They were born on third base and think they hit a home run.
Your summation is spot-on.
They heard stories of the struggle older generations had, and witnessed the resulting trauma. Having never been through it themselves they developed the worship of struggle and elevation of suffering, as an affectation.
Then they foisted the self-loathing for themselves having never experienced it, on subsequent generations, claiming the subsequent generations were the first ones who never experienced it. And have tried to force suffering on us ever since, in an attempt to make us like their parents.
Truly the John Wayne generation, larping like the hard world gave them moral character, while sleeping in a soft Hollywood bed, coasting on the work left by real people, without even the grit of the ones who took it from the real people.
They thought they were financial geniuses for buying a house when it was cheap and getting rich off inflated prices from a lack of supply.
