Weird how the Grand Old Pedos were insisting the Dems were going to ban prayer everywhere, yet its Pedo Don who started. Interesting.

I’m not sure - is this the free speech maximalism the Confederates were touting?

Or is that only when they think they are getting “shadow banned” on some private platform when trying to spread unhelpful conspiracy theories during a pandemic or when they are trying to spread October surprise nonsense about Hunter Biden’s hard drive, oops, I mean, “laptop” to flip an election?

The post title is misleading, and I think looking at the article makes it a lot clearer what is happening and why:

Federal authorities told demonstrators Friday that there would be “no more prayer” in front of or inside the Broadview ICE facility, in a move that mystified local leaders and raised legal questions.

A federal representative delivered the news to a huddle of faith leaders and activists standing outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility Friday, speaking after faith leaders were denied entry to the building for the third time Friday.

In other words, prayer is being used as a form of protest outside the Broadview ICE facility. The solution, if you’re the US government, apparently, is to ban prayer!

They couldn’t pass up the chance to simultaneously ban religious freedom and freedom of speech. Double-tap on the first amendment!

Its not just “in front of”…

They’re not allowing any member of any religious group access to detainees.

As such, they started protesting in the “free speech zone”, which is a tiny fenced in area that’s literally and only there because you can’t have your first amendment rights in public anymore.

      They’re not a new thing:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gje3HiouzvQ

Like, it’s already not allowed inside, it wasn’t allowed directly outside, it was only allowed in a small cage whose location the facility choose to keep protestors out of the way.

This is a very big thing

Like you say, prayer is only banned if it is being used to protest Trump and ICE.

But that’s tantamount to saying “You can only pray for the things that are on the government’s approved list.” This should be pretty much just as shocking and offensive to most religious people as an outright ban on prayer.

Based on your excerpt, it appears the Trump administration has banned prayer inside of, and nearby, federal facilities, just like the title says.

      What is misleading?

I read the title and came to this exact conclusion. I assumed prayer was being used as a form of protest and that was banned by the feds. What’s misleading? Prayer is protected speech, even as a form of protest, no?

Title says “in,” means within the grounds of the facility that these protesters were denied access. “At” would probably be a better preposition, or maybe ‘around.’ “In” implies that they’ve banned detainees from prayer.

Truth doesn’t matter, reality doesn’t matter, their OWN MYTHOLOGY doesn’t matter to them. Most of them haven’t even read their own manual outside the dozen or so cherry picked verses that they use somewhat interchangeably for conflicting messages, once a week for 45 minutes.

This is why many communities enforce the post title being the same as the article title. The title provided is incredibly misleading, whereas the actual article title is not.

They had a popularity contest and he got the Christian vote. This is what Christianity really is, not the outliers getting persecuted, or whichever verse we’re cherry picking today.

They don’t get to burn people at the stake, torture people to death, donate to child abusers, and then tell us they’re some other mythical ideal. They’ve shown us who they are.

“I’m dumbfounded,” the police chief told Block Club. “Every time I talk with [federal officials], it feels like their rules keep changing. We don’t really know what’s happening, I’m sorry I can’t say more.

No shit, they have no rules. They just make up shit and lies as they go.

Pretty clearly not if you read more than the headline…

Even the pope is on the protestor’s side. They don’t want anything religious, because of the optics.

So they’re cracking down on religion, including Christians, despite Christians voting for trump by a 20+ margin.

Which is honestly the only thing trump could do that might cut down on that demographic.

If he was smart, he’d have carved out a (supply side only) jeebus exception, but it’s trump. He doesn’t understand people have thoughts that he doesn’t, so since he doesn’t really give a fuck about religion and just says it. He assumes everyone else is doing the same thing.

And that’s not just a trump problem unfortunately

Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills, whose department helped facilitate the phone call, said that he was “trying to figure out” in discussions with Mayor Katrina Thompson and an attorney if a federal agency could legally ban religious gatherings on land owned by the village. Religious groups previously have been allowed to practice outside the facility, he said.

It’s a shame the highest they can reach out for help is the mayor…

Reminder to vote in primaries so you’re not stuck between an open republican and a literal multi-billionaire who claims he’s on your side for important offices like govenor in the general
