I would certainly love to be proven wrong about this

Please recall Democrats had FOUR YEARS to prepare for another Trump campaign, including two years of majority.
The filibuster/cloture can be ignored by them at will with a simple majority vote.
The senate doesn’t “need” a two thirds majority. It makes bills “exceptions” to that majority vote with regularity, hundreds of exceptions; it’s a senate rule and not law.
The senate could have impeached and convicted him and barred him from holding office for his entire life. That’s their job. they are the only ones who can do it.
I don’t know why you think this, but the Constitution explicitly requires a 2/3 majority of the Senate to vote for conviction.
Article I, section 3, clause 6:
Because cloture rules (which can be amended with majority vote whenever they want and ignored) also applies to conviction for some reason (according to .gov website). A mistake, as admitted by me immediately. That’s why I thought that.
no see they could have voted a simple majority to overrule that and the supreme court’s obvious and inevitable overturning of said rhetorical hypothetical ruling.

You are right, IMPEACHMENT is 50/50 and CONVICTION is 2/3, thank you for correction.
