This is the reason why he was assassinated folks. Same reason why Malcom X was assassinated too.
And Fred Hampton

Then the Billionaire LeBron James decided to sell a pair of sneakers with MLK Jr’s name on it 🤦♂️

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice.
– Martin Luther King Jr. (1963)
These are the same people blaming non-voters because they had a conscience.
Democrats were fine with throwing Palestinians under the bus but people who said “no, we don’t want to be a part of it” are the “problem”.
They don’t want peace, they just don’t want to be bothered by the actions of their system they created.
Reprehensible people.
Then vote third party! Not voting just says “I don’t care”.
I would go even further, by not voting the message those in power get from you is “the current situation/trajectory of society is fine with me”. Whether or not that’s what you intended.
Agreed. Abstaining from democratic participation doesn’t absolve from democratic responsibility. If both parties on offer are shit, at least make a point of showing that on the ballot rather than just silently accepting whatever comes your way.
Oh, cause Palestinians are doing so much better under trump, right? He just gave Israel $3.3 billion for their military…
But anyone saying “Kamala Harris would be much better than trump” is reprehensible?
People making your argument have no sense ofrealpolitik.
that wasn’t the only issue harris had. but that was the issue everyone looked to her at that moment to rally her base, only for her to not only dash that but to parrot the same neo liberal bull shit. and that’s when everyone knew that there would be no escape. if victory was the plan then the democrats should have known better
I like this one more.
What a way with words.
It’s also tragic what they did to Helen Keller.
The woman was a brilliant, opinionated socialist who fought capitalism publicly and vehemently - bravely and without any deference to those she didn’t respect…
…and history remembers her for learning to say the word “water”, completely making her seem like a simpleton who barely learned to function. It’s insulting and horrible.
I love the sentiment, but I always shy away from this particular quote, simply because it is unsubstantiated:
You should actually read that article beyond the “unsubstantiated” tag.
It’s very likely he did say either exactly those words or something very close to them. It’s just that no one recorded or transcribed him saying those because it was a private conversation between him and another individual who only wrote down the encounter 40 years after it happened.
I do love the apt ‘rich beyond conscience’, whoever wrote the quote
Who’s the genius to sanitized American history, I think Goebbels could learn a few things from them. Modern American education even though college makes modern American history seem like a bunch of helpless minorities decided to protest until the benevolent white people gave them rights, and modern political activism shows it. The history of labor is barely even mentioned.
All national projects sanitize their history and make myths about themselves.
Here’s Lenin describing recuperation of revolutionsaries after their deaths in 1917
