I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice.

    – Martin Luther King Jr. (1963)

The only stupid thing I’m aware of him ever saying.

I’ll take a thousand apathetic cowards over a thousand raging bigots any day.

Apathy let’s people strong arm the weak. Apathy is what got you Donald Dumbass Trump. Apathy is the bane of a successful society. Evil grows on the shadows and apathy let’s it fester until it boils over.

You are very wrong Lemming, very wrong indeed. Apathy let’s your neighbours be dragged from their homes while you turn a blind eye.

Well, you missed his point entirely though. Society only functions when we are involved in it. Ignoring it allows evil to run rampant because it’s not polite to get involved.

No, I understand that. You’re the one that doesn’t understand.

I’d rather have a thousand people minding their business even if they should be fighting for me than a thousand people actively trying to kill me.

Yes, Apathy Bad, but malice is worse.

If the whole world is, sure. The point is the polite people are probably not full of malice and ruffling a few feathers is necessary for a healthy society. I understand your point, you would rather everyone turn away than attack you, millions of people don’t ha e that luxury, and just because they haven’t gotten to you yet doesn’t mean they aren’t coming.

Your comment makes absolutely no sense.

You profess to now understand my point and then immediately demonstrate you don’t, attacking a straw man again.

I don’t agree with your point is what I am saying, but I better understand you, and you are just plain wrong. The evil you know is better than those you don’t, because you can face it. How do you reach the apathetic? How do you face that which would rather turn away? How do you get them to engage?

These are the same people blaming non-voters because they had a conscience.

Democrats were fine with throwing Palestinians under the bus but people who said “no, we don’t want to be a part of it” are the “problem”.

They don’t want peace, they just don’t want to be bothered by the actions of their system they created.

      Reprehensible people.

I would go even further, by not voting the message those in power get from you is “the current situation/trajectory of society is fine with me”. Whether or not that’s what you intended.

Agreed. Abstaining from democratic participation doesn’t absolve from democratic responsibility. If both parties on offer are shit, at least make a point of showing that on the ballot rather than just silently accepting whatever comes your way.

Oh, cause Palestinians are doing so much better under trump, right? He just gave Israel $3.3 billion for their military…

But anyone saying “Kamala Harris would be much better than trump” is reprehensible?

People making your argument have no sense ofrealpolitik.

that wasn’t the only issue harris had. but that was the issue everyone looked to her at that moment to rally her base, only for her to not only dash that but to parrot the same neo liberal bull shit. and that’s when everyone knew that there would be no escape. if victory was the plan then the democrats should have known better
