Because you can never trust or rely on an ally who’s on your side because you are being nice to them instead of because they have some kind of scruples.

It’s no better than say, sucking up to someone with a peace award in the hopes they don’t start a war.

      Buddy…

If you think the only two options are bing antognistic or “sucking up”…

Well, sounds like you are a recent example of the American education system

I didn’t say that, and I’ll thank you not to put words in my mouth. Also not to be a dick, but I’ll settle for the first one

What I SAID was, specifically changing your behavior to gain the support of someone whose loyalties are so flaky that they’ll change sides because of your behavior in the first place is a pointless exercise.

          I didn’t say that

No, that’s how quoting works, you literally said:

Because you can never trust or rely on an ally who’s on your side because you are being nice to them instead of because they have some kind of scruples.

It’s no better than say, sucking up to someone with a peace award in the hopes they don’t start a war.

You said it’s one or the other.

And now you’re saying that people shouldnt have went by the literal words you typed, you’ve retroactively changed what you meant because that rationalize is easier than admitting you were wrong.

I hope you stop imitating our president someday, but I’ll never know. Because you just get belligerent like he does too, and I’m not dealing with that shit.

Abrasive comments like that, with no content whatsoever apart from insults, are really the lowest points of the Lemmy experience.

No willingness to share or accept any information, just pure sodium. Despicable really.

I have similar feelings with people who put more importance on tone policing while fucking fascists are building concentration camps.

But here we are and that’s what you’re doing

So I usually put one last hail mary comment, because you understanding this is more important than how nice you think someone is:

If you think the message would be better received another way, fucking try that

Don’t try and insist that every spreads the message the same way, because that’s a recipe for it not reaching large parts of the population.

But there’s going to be a lot of less than a week old accounts with single digit comments trying to waste people’s time and stop doing what’s effective.

And how do I know which you are?

No, actually, this is how quoting works. See how, quite literally, they never said it was one or the other? You just made that up.

YOU, on the other hand, quoted them, then put words in their mouth that they didn’t say. And I can quote that here.

You said it’s one or the other.
