It just came out, which probably why it’s not on here, but I really enjoyed The Spinning Wheel by Mediæval Bæbes
I was sharing music with a friend and their reaction upon being shown an artist (not even listening) was "ew less than 100k monthly listens”
bro? is this your metric for good music ? how many people listen to it on Spotify ?
if this is how avg ppl see music it explains a lot about top 40 charts
I don’t listen to music with a calculator
TOOL fans in shambles
Mathcore: Am I a joke to you?
excuse me where tf is Rosalia’s LUX. S+++ tier
Personally the more popular an artist or band is, the less likely I’ll enjoy their music.
This is broadly speaking and not universal, there are big exceptions like radiohead, massive attack, aphex twin, BICEP and tool, but for the most part, if something is in the charts, I’m probably going to hate it
Man, I don’t know shit about modern music evidently.
I too, am old now.
What makes an album “female”?
This was easier to figure out with CDs /s
All CDs have holes. None of them have penises.
Yeah, but then they tried going all woke in the late 90s with the CD-RW stuff and data reassignment procedures.
rude
If she covers her CD case when you talk to her, she’s a female album.
Putting Man’s Best Friend and Life of a Showgirl on the same level is slander
Which is supposed to be the better album?
I don’t listen to either artist and don’t care for either of them from what I’ve heard on the radio and at malls so I’m not the best person to judge. I’m curious what your thoughts are though (and what the general consensus is).
I mean It is just a matter of opinion if course, but I think the common consensus was that this was not Taylor’s greatest work, and Manchild is one of if not Sabrina Carpenter’s biggest song right now.
I personally was never the biggest fan of modern pop music but it’s been starting to grow on me.
Ah, good to know, thanks. Not sure I’ll ever need the info but I’m always curious on what’s popular, even if it’s not something I’m interested in. I know of both artists but don’t know much music from either and don’t care to. But it’s cool to see what’s seen as better or worse by the general fanbase.
Yeah! Sabrina is way better than Taylor!
~ I don’t actually hold this opinion. I don’t actually give a fuck at all. But I do like them both just fine ~
Princess of Power being that low is genuinely insulting
Everyone tastes like something
No Wet Leg?
They are not a female-only band, tho.
Aw man, I loved their last album. I never realized they released another. I was listening to The Scholars by Car Seat Headrest for a good portion of last year.
I can safely say I know none of these albums. I’ve enough prior music to deal with first.
Yes. Bad Bunny have a lot of numbers in spotify BECAUSE it’s the default/background music that plays in every party.
If it’s the default music at every party, that’s evidence of its popularity.
Popularity doesn’t equal quality, though. Not to say anything about bad bunny since I don’t think I’ve ever heard his music before.
I mean, quality is a subjective thing, especially with music. What I consider quality music you might think is garbage and vice versa.
But if the song is a default at parties then it’s hard to argue that it’s low quality.
That’s what I said.
I don’t entirely disagree, but I kinda feel like broad acceptance doesn’t necessarily equate to popularity. It’s like, yeah, I wouldn’t mind listening to Bad Bunny, but I’m also super unlikely to put it on myself you know?
What is popularity if not broad acceptance? “Quality” is something else and mostly subjective, but it’s not directly related to popularity
Let’s say that a reproduction in spotify is a sale (since is streaming and that’s how it works), perfectly we can say, once again that sales =/= quality, which, is the title of the post.
