Denying natural-born citizens their citizenship on any grounds is almost certainly a violation of the 14th Amendment. Chip Roy is a brainless hog person and this is a publicity stunt. They need a new scapegoat for election season, since the old ones don’t seem to be working anymore.
This initiative is (so far) threatening naturalized citizens, not born citizens.
The 14th amendment specifies that naturalized citizens are full-fledged citizens, that there’s no legal way to cleave them off as some special subclass. In a sane world that paid more than lip service to the constitution, this this kind of harassment wouldn’t fly at all.
Indeed. Its a clear violation of equal protection without even considering the OBVIOUS violation of the first amendment.
The Supreme Court: “Ah, but what would ‘equal protection’ mean, to a 16th century Englishman?”
I honestly don’t think this is a publicity stunt. I think Chip Roy really believes this nonsense.
