From my experience it’s entirely self promotion and nothing else. I don’t mind having spaces for that, but I wish there was more of a culture of discussion

That’s exactly what I mean. Every time I’ve tried to start a discussion on there I get maaaaybe one reply and often none.
That’s why I don’t go there either. That’s what Lemmy is for!
i thought lemmy is a link aggregator where people just spam links to articles they found as a post and don’t comment.
hmm… can I filter my lemmy posts feed for those with at least 5 comments or at least 1 comment/reply from OP?
