Can anyone tell what he was doing? It looked like he grabbed something off the ground and then took off after realizing they saw him. Just curious

I was wondering about that too. Is that why they went after him or because hes brown? It looks like a phone or something because its pretty reflective. But that makes it even more confusing. Was it his? Was it just laying there? Did the nazis put it there as a “trap”?
