    So, I’m just checking…

    1. It is not open source?
    2. It uses AI to “Fact-Check”?
    3. It costs 20$ to join, and possibly more later?

Well, they have chosen interesting path those people behind this thing.

A new and notable feature is the automated fact-checking tool, a Gemini-based “veracity engine for real-time analysis” (“Vera” for short), which runs on every tweet.

    Bwahahahaa

Really? The Gemini that got Google sued and found liable for the misinformation it spread? That’s who you wanna trust to check for “veracity”?

I’m not paying a $20 entry fee into a walled garden that wastes energy and water to have a text processor guess whether my arrangement of words resembles its training material closely enough.

These guys are a bunch of morons. All of the comments here are proving as to why.

    • Associates with AI
    • Wants money to use it
    • Doesn’t factor that Twitter might not entirely be available after all
    • Uses Musk’s other imprints, like Grok, on it which may subject them to fail
    • More centralized social media is not what we need

I’ll give it a few months before they actually are sued into oblivion, to which they’ll have the biggest pikachu shocked faces possible.

I did always think it was stupid that he bought a site with pretty great branding (twitter/tweets/the bird graphics etc) and immediately got rid of most of that branding.

The worst part for me personally (and maybe nobody else) is I love the band the xx but wearing their merch these days makes it seem like I maybe support anything musk based.

If it wasn’t $20 to join, I might have tried it. But considering they haven’t even finished their core case saying whether or not they’re even allowed to use the branding yet, and they’re trying to get $20 or $40 out of every new user, I’m going to pass.

I will check back at a later date to see its progress, but right now I don’t think it’s worth it.

i don’t care about that social media platform. but i do hope that new twitter becomes more popular than musk twitter. from a technical standpoint they both seem shit with AI and pay to play. but at least its not musk and i would hope he gets quite a bit pissed if new twitter takes a good slice of his matket.
