    It also depends hugely on the type of grass that you have on the mix of grass you have. Unless your lawn has only just has recently been professionally laid it will be multiple types of grass all mixed in together, and unless you let it grow really long, it all looks identical.

    Clover does better with certain types of grass than others. Unfortunately you kind of have to just deal with whatever mix of grass you happen to have unless you want to rip it all up and start again. I looked into it while ago and high quality meadowgrass (that’s not a type of grass, it’s just a mixture that all work well together for wildflower gardens) is really expensive.
