I’m more referring to the ones who use the excuse “they didn’t know he was like this”.
It’s almost that if you take them at their word, rather than them being a fool for believing such things, that you are in-fact the fool who believes their ridiculous explanation for why they aren’t a bad person.

True enough. I’m trying to not sink into total cynic level. It’s difficult.
