I mean at this point it is like he is the leader of a gang committing international and national humanitarian crimes on live TV and no one is doing shit. So yeah one more person saying this doesn’t add much.

It’s so wild that Jack Smith is just doing his job the way it’s supposed to be done, and he now seems like the outlier in the public sphere.

Especially when you contrast him with the entire array of conservatives and Republicans and how they are just trying to self-deal and punch down and destroy this country.

Jack Smith is one of the few who actually cares about America instead of their own wallet or power. This guy is an actual hero but instead he is painted like he is some criminal and liar by the GOP. Americans should take before they vote what is happening here. They’re trying hard to cover shit up and silence this man or anyone else that want to blow the whistle on them. If you Americans are still too fucking blind to see that and STILL vote for Trump these midterms you guys are fucking lost forever. I have said Fuck America almost everyday since Trump became president. This November is you last fucking shot to put things right.

I’m sure you know this, but just for clarification’s sake: Trump is not on the ballot, he’ll still be president after November. What IS on the ballot is his party’s stranglehold on congress and the senate, and his ability to act with complete impunity.

Half the leftists here think Jack Smith is the enemy because he didn’t charge, convict and personally execute Trump before america collectively decided to vote him in again.

I’ve seen people complaining about Biden and Garland slow walking the prosecution. I haven’t seen anyone complaining about Smith.

I have to agree with them on Garland and Biden. Those two fucked the pooch by being partisan in an attempt to appear nonpartisan.

Jack Smith might get a pass from me if Robert Mueller didn’t royally fuck up his investigation in full view of Smith for pretty much the same reasons. Smith definitely saw the way that played out and still waited 3 years too long to say stuff like what is quoted in this headline. Good for him for saying it eventually but if he wanted it to matter he’s way too late taking his stand and he should have known that better than anyone.

He was preparing a case to go to trial, one of the most important cases in American history. It’s not a reality show. There was never an opportunity back then to make the statements he made this week. Frankly, most of that would have been the content of his opening statement to the court. When was the last time you heard a prosecutor give his opening statement to the media BEFORE he gave it to the court?

He never got the chance to say this stuff, mostly because Biden and Garland dithered and slow-walked the whole thing, compounded by Trump doing the one thing he’s good at: manipulating the court schedule. That allowed MAGA to run out the clock, so Trump could cheat his way back into office and kill the investigations.

They should have gone after the 14th Amendment, Section 3 first, and disqualified him from holding office (as well as any other MAGA that supported him), and then gone after the criminal charges.

Yes, but also he should’ve seen what was happening and realized the court of public opinion was his only shot of making it to a real one. Yes, adopting their dirty tactics is “unethical” or whatever, but exigent circumstances…

I agree with most of what you said. However, I find it odd that you called it “one of the most important cases in American history” but also seem to be defending their decision to treat it much like any other case.

Trump is the best example there is that norms and precedent don’t mean much. He loves using the system against his opponents and Smith didn’t fight back against that at all. Again, he should have expected Trump’s deny and delay tactics and took some action.

Fighting an opponent who uses the rules against you requires being creative with the rules. Instead of the bold action we needed we got timid deference to procedure. If Biden and Garland were the hold up then stand in front of the media and say that directly to the world. Force them to either get off their ass or fire you. Anything less is equivalent to letting Trump run out the clock, which is exactly what happened.

He’s proving right now that he knows how to do this, which is why it’s so frustrating that he didn’t do it when it might have mattered.

In reality not treating it with norms would immediately give Trump ammo to torpedo the entire thing and rightfully call it unfair. You can argue for reform but unilaterally imposing changes to how the process works for a single individual, during the investigation, is not a thing.

Just because the Biden admin didn’t do shit doesn’t mean leftists think they’re the enemy

We can be mad about them not getting shit done in four fucking years and that doesn’t mean we think he should fucking be on trial by the people he failed to convict.

Your post, however, is a great example of what we mean when we say “lib take”

I’m not playing team sports here. Merrick Garland and Joe Biden were incredibly limp-dicked on this and are the reason we are where we are. They could have stopped this but they were afraid they would lose and they would be targeted for it. They were incredible cowards. Jack Smith put in the work but was ultimately silenced by his boss. He didn’t have to comply but that’s an even bigger risk to himself. None of this makes any of them the enemy.

Don’t TELL your enemy what you are GOING to do, JUST DO IT!

Here’s what I did. I painted a target on MY back in the very small, very RED town. I’m still here.

It’s a long story but, yes.

I originally put a real American flag upside down on the front of the house. It was there for two weeks then somebody STOLE it.

I was violated! WHO steals an American flag from an American (me)? Answer: Not an American. Maybe a Nazi?

So I painted the flag on the house so no one can steal it and I added a message to the thief about what I thought of him. I think he’s a Nazi. I think America has been Nazified.

It’s a message to the real thief not you. I would like to believe he’s fuming right now. What he did made it worse and anything he does will also make it worse. He can only make it worse. I have “exposed” him for what he actually is. A terrorist. He doesn’t belong in America.

I have change the wall a few times now. Here is the latest. I used the Israeli flag as the blue field.

Holy shit! I know exactly where this is at. I remember seeing it when I was getting some tacos at the food cart right across the street.

You aren’t kidding, that town is deeeeep red.

There is another house on the south side of town, near the gas station, that has a ton of anti-trump flags and signs in their front yard.

Stay safe! Some real wackadoodles in that town.

Huh. I want to make something very clear: I’m not trying to tone police - please, by all means, paint whatever you want on your own property. Free speech and all that.

However, if I saw that in an area that I knew was deep red, I don’t know that my first thought would be “hell yeah, that dude’s protesting Nazism/Zionism” 😬
