Justine’s bookshelf is a boring person’s bookshelf. AI makes you boring.
Why though? I genuinely don’t know what the use case is here. If you have a bookshelf it already has your books on it, you could take a photo of that. If you wanted a list of book recommendations, a text list would be more useful.
No book reader would store their books like that you fucking moron. They’d have as many as they could fit crammed in there. Maybe if you actually read more you wouldn’t need AI to do your thinking for you.
That’s so you can tell at a glance what an interesting and quirky person they are!
Most of the titles seemed to be about pets or the objects that serve them. Such a full rich life.
Shit like this makes me wonder if AIs convincing people to kill themselves is really such a terrible thing.
That’s just a shotgun blast of random books.
“we swear we didn’t train on copyrighted works but for pure coincidence we can generate an exact copy of the cover of such copyrighted work”
Is there a Venn diagram for people who are into Ai like this and people who go to strip clubs and think the stripper is “into” them?
fill the shelves based on what it knows about you
The results on her shelves:
-
Do you struggle to be creative?
-
How to steal art
-
EXTREMELY ONLINE
Superintelligence, please put books on this shelf that suit me! (gets a picture filled with “Accepting that you’re a stupid loser fuckface”, volumes I-XV)
In defense of steal like an artist, its more of a self help book about learning to like the process of making things, not literally about how to steal art.
Hilariously its also very anti AI

“You can ask chatgpt how to wipe your ass since you’re unable to think for yourself.”
I have actually seen people in online discussions quoting chatgpt about this topic.
We deserve collapse
Wait is there content to discuss about this? I must know, maybe I’ve been inefficient my whole life
Just get a bidet. And a Squatty Potty, while you’re at it.
ChatGPT is clearly the world’s leading expert in ass-wiping, despite not having one.
I’ve seen threads like “Fellas, is it gay to wipe your ass?” So apparently it’s a thing…
I could also see a serious discussion on how to manage chronic seepage but so far the internet doesn’t seem mature enough to handle that so…
Oh wow, that’s so cool. Definitely worth the $2 trillion spent on AI so far.
Also the knock off effects like computer parts quadrupling in price, the ecological damage, fucking over local power grids, and speed running propaganda.
Don’t forget further entrenchment of state and corporate power over our lives!
I’ve seen billboards saying “many new datacenters are designed to reuse water” like… OK? that’s ONE aspect of it. you’re still installing natural gas turbines and diesel generators and taking enormous amounts of electricity…
“many”
Not to mention ‘many’ is vague and probably doesn’t apply to the one who paid for the billboard or it would say which one. It is like having a sign that says ‘many chefs wash their hands’.
Cool, but the one roght here is the most important one to me at this moment.
People never seem to understand that sometimes, the greenest thing you can do is NOTHING. Whodathunkit?
This is less meaningful than filling bookshelves in Skyrim.
Hey chatgpt, make me an image of a bookshelf with 15 copies of The Lusty Argonian Maid
Both volumes.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That’s uh, not how you fill a bookshelf
Also, I’ve read “What If.” It’s pretty good.
Finally got my hands on How To and Thing Explainer the other day. Munroe is great
I had to fight the urge to hold my finger on the pictures to make the mouseover text appear.
It is if you only read for the purpose of being able to say that you read
Performative bookcasing.
“Ceci n’est pas un livre”
Also, most books are not presented on bookshelves like that. Spine out, usually.
And like, why have to take a picture of an empty bookshelf? Just have your slop machine generate the shelf too
Or literally just ask for a bulleted list…
(You know, assuming one isn’t already capable of finding books to read for oneself, looking at human-generated recommended reading lists, or asking real people for recommendations)
But then how could they show off to their ‘friends’ how special their AI is?!
Right, their “friends” a.k.a. AI xitter bots
These are just marketable books, which makes sense for statistical model blob.
It looks like a bunch of VHS tapes.
It’d be a lot cooler if it was.
You can tell she outsources all of her brain activity to ChatGPT just from her not questioning the placement of books.
“Now please read the books and tell me what I would have experienced reading them”
What kind of person puts a recipe book on a bookshelf in the first place. Or a coffee table book? Can you imagine asking a friend for book recommendations and they suggest a cookbook? What about an interior design look book?
I’m not saying a friend should never suggest these kinds of books, but if I asked a friend to “fill my bookshelf” and they suggested those I would be confused. Also, steal like an artist being present is the ultimate irony.
I read this a bit differently. How much does the AI agent actually know about me? It probably has internal directives to not disclose exactly how much information it - or the parent company- has profiled, but prompts like this might be a workaround to learning how much they’ve really got on me.
