Whenever someone claims that rural white people are voting against their own interests, I have to correct them. They are voting for their own interests, you just don’t understand what their interests are.

its nos surprise that gop isnt getting rid of medicaid/care in those states, the Rs would riot immediately. i know they rail on about medicaid expansion anywhere else. whats the number 1 or 2 medical condition in poorer areas, obesity, and diabetes type 2+ associated comorbidities. and those medications add up in costs. thats why weight loss surgery for obese people makes bank there.

thats why alot of red states are LCOL, nobody wants to live in those areas. and the income is so skewed there to, it may look like alot of Rs are middle class in that state, but they are actually very low income in most states.

I had to spend a few days at some conservative family’s house, and they had Fox News on a lot and said a bunch of dumb shit. Probably took at least a year off of my life.
It is rage inducing for sure and we have had many arguments over politics to the point where we have paused our friendship several times…there are moments of clarity sprinkled in but yah, the friendship has not been the same since trump jacked up the brains of fox news listeners.
