German democracy isn’t “winner takes all”, it’s the opposite, they need to form a coalition and nobody likes them enough to do it, so these numbers aren’t as scary as they could be. Still, terrifying, but not immanently so
Nazis never achieved absolute majority of the vote. Only after being enabled by the “conservative right” did they basically abolish the state and founded a new one where only 1 party was allowed.
