Woke is a brilliant and evil political manipulation tool. As a conservative politician, you never have to state a position on any topic anymore. You just say you’re against all the woke stuff and your captive idiots just assume you agree with them. They hear exactly what they want to hear.

The unemployed auto sector worker believes “woke” means Chinese EVs.

The bigots believe “woke” means allowing gay people to exist.

The wealthy believe “woke” means making rich people like them actually pay taxes.

It’s a shortcut around actually saying anything of substance. You can get two people whose agendas are completely opposed to both believe that you are on their side because they both accept that “woke” means the thing they hate. And since you just said that you hate “woke”, then you hate the same thing they do so they will support you through anything now.

Woke is the new ‘unamerican’ label, which was used to criticize protests, equality, etc.

Yeah “Woke” is basically how “Trotskyite” was used during Stalin’s regime. Everyone they don’t like and opposes them just gets the label. It’s a word they can use to give their followers permission to hate someone without having their followers use their own fucking brains.

This is why their interlocutors should always be asking what they mean by woke but apparently that’s too hard for a journalist

Tweet von @CasioWiser:Anonymous got that woke mind virus @elonmusk Antwort von @YourAnonNews: You fools throw around the word “woke” like it’s some kind of slur, it’s actually quite funny. You probably don’t know the meaning of the word, so let us school your tiny little mind. The word means that we’re alert to social injustices - such as racism and discrimination, that we’re cool with LGBTQ+ rights, we’re aware of economic disparities between the super-rich and working class, and that we’re cool with equal rights for all people. So - when you use it as a slur, we understand that you are against these things - that you are pro racism and discrimination, that you are not ok with LGBTQ+ people and you’re cool with the super-rich raping the working class - and that you’re not ok with equal rights. Don’t hide, just come out and say it - tell everyone you’re a Nazi.

I think we should take back control of the term ‘woke’. Be woke and proud. Have blue hats with WOKE on them, stuff like that.

The MAGA’s have made ‘woke’ a bad thing and they are controlling the narrative around it now. Originally Woke was a positive word. I think we should go for reappropriation.

Meaning is use. “Woke” is used consistently, but differently, in different political circles, so it has more than one meaning.

Didn’t watch, but I have to say I am super anti-woke in the morning; I really, really love sleep.

The only anti-woke cap I respect:

Woke means “aware of systemic inequality”. It’s been part of the English language for a hundred years, and the definition hasn’t shifted much.

When a Republican says they’re “anti-woke”, they mean that they are in favor of hiding systemic inequality, because they want to preserve it. They’re usually using the word correctly, even though they’ve failed to define it explicitly.

That’s because the current iteration of Republicans rely on a perceived system of social hierarchies. There are in groups and out groups. The quiet part out loud is that inequality is the outcome being sought not some unfortunate byproduct of the system they intend to implement.

It’s the new “politically correct”. Like a good political slogan it means whatever the listener wants it to mean. Political impressionism? Conservative groups knew they hit the jackpot with PC and have been trying to replicate it for years. “Social Justic Warrior” flopped, too wordy. “Woke” really worked for them

Yeah. Being woke requires you to be aware of what is happening.

Superman just shows up, and says “TIME TO SAVE PEOPLE!!!”. But he in general doesn’t know anything.

To be woke, he’d need knowledge of WHY the orphanage is on fire. He just happened to be flying around, saw a fire, and saved the orphans.

He’d be much angrier if he knew the orphanage was on fire because state legislatures cut funding to support the orphanage all so some dipship govenor can buy a 6th yacht.

The latest one smashed a few planes and tanks, and dropped a dictator on a cactus. I don’t think he was just stopping by for a rescue.

He’s all too aware. As powerful as he is, he doesn’t have the ability to solve everyone’s problems everywhere all the time. This is a source of tremendous grief for him. That’s the whole reason he’s a compelling character and not just wish fulfillment.

Superman got his start beating up slum lords. That’s not a joke. Superman started out as the sort of guy who rooted out corruption. The “aw, shucks” version of Superman is both a bit of a later development (and also kind of the persona that he takes on as Clark Kent)

On the one hand, his arch nemesis is an extremely wealthy CEO, so was ahead of its time in that regard. On the other, Superman refuses to do harm, even to him, when the truly woke would eat such a person in a heartbeat.

This is now the bar for me accepting Superman as woke. He is gonna have to guillotine Lex Luther. If he just Karate chops his head off, I will let that count as well.
