this is disrespectful as fuck. nsfw artists are never “just in it for the money.” everyone who’s tried that has hated it and quit.

the vast majority of nsfw artists enjoy what they do, and to suggest otherwise is puritan bullshit.

edit: to clarify, the message of this comic, as far as I can tell, is “sex is gross. nobody likes drawing sex. everyone who draws sex is being coerced financially.” and thats fucked up because 1) its not true, and 2) if it were true, it would imply that nsfw artists “deserve” all the bullshit they get from banks, from clients, and from other artists. porn is sex work, and sex work is hard work. if you just need the money, there’s like a hundred easier ways to get it that don’t involve porn. nobody chooses this path lightly, so don’t talk trash about them!

Or. And hear me out here. The message of the comic is “the author thinks sex is gross. The author doesn’t like drawing sex. The author is willing to give up on those values for the right sum of money.” And it’s a tongue in cheek joke about how their opinions can be easily swayed by financial incentives, rather than a reflection of all artists.

It’s literally the artist’s self insert OC. How else are they supposed to communicate that they’re talking about a personal experience about them self and not speaking broadly on the topic? Notice how the person commissioning the NSFW art is pictured very plainly without much detail. That’s because they’re a generic stand-in. But the artist is more detailed, because they are a specific person.

its relevant and i was genuinely confused and arguing in good faith. i was wrong, and i accept that, but you don’t have to make up that it was “irrelevant.”

People are allowed to think sex is icky and express that and that doesn’t mean they’re judging others for not thinking that. This doesn’t seem like the “are the allos okay?” jokes, for a similar example of jokes that do communicate negative judgement of people who feel otherwise.
