A lot of people talking about how this is just the latest step in the grift, but really, I’ve never thought she was a grifter.

Narrow-minded bigot, yes. Dumb as a bag of hammers, sure. Utterly hoodwinked by the right-wing outrage media, definitely. But she always seemed like she really believed in it. She thought she could achieve her worldview by cozying up to Trump. Even after she realized he was all smoke and mirrors, she still tried to make it work because she thought she could get it if she just tried a little harder; right up until she realized that she had been usurped in the cult.

Which honestly almost makes it worse, when you think about it. But at least this way she’s peeling off some more of the MAGA faithful.

I feel like I fell into some alternate universe. We elected an entire evil clown college to run the government and MTG is actually making sense.

It’s amazing that she can come full circle on so many issues and still not have the self awareness to understand how the flaws in conservative reasoning which get you trump are the same ones which condition her thoughts on abortion and the various other right wing causes she still supports. It’s like a broiler chicken learning that she exists to be mechanically butchered and unceremoniously consumed by malevolent apes, and then demanding a different color cage.

Her sudden change of heart is nothing more than an effort by her to escape the justice she has coming for helping all this treason get moving. Her former allies have abandoned her. She is not capable of shame for her actions. Magat marge is the same gormless piece of shit as she ever was and would still be waving the magat cult banner if she was still welcome there. She can have redemption when she dies for it. Until then, she should keep her worthless words inside to spare us the foul wind that carries them.

What’s the end goal here? Does she have a podcast or a book deal or something?

Stop trying to follow the logic here, because that never occurredto her when drafting this post. This is all political kabuki. She can see clear as day that Trump’s cohort are burning through what little political power they have remaining and will soon be ousted, and she’s positioning herself as the sane conservative candidate by distancing herself from their most extreme decisions/policies. When the dust clears she’ll have a head start campaigning for whatever office she wants.

Make no mistake, she’s a true believer in all the shit that got us to this fucked up situation we find ourselves in. The first part of her post is just the “normal” kind of extremism that seems blase compared to the firehose of daily scandals coming from the WH every day.

What she is saying and the fact she’s saying it publicly is actually very important. She’s showing others who follow(ed) Trump uncritically that it’s possible to hold conservative values and still call out the egregious actions of the Trump administration and the performative propaganda they use to justify them. The fact that she was part of the problem makes her actions even more important.

Yeah because she wasn’t complicit in any of it.

I’ll never understand why people give the shittiest people alive attention like this. MTG is a poser, nothing she says is worth consideration.
