Trump’s name is circled. The circled individuals are the ones involved in the trafficking ring according to the person who originally released the book.  These people would be “The List.” Here is the story.

“We love America just as much as they do. But in a different way. You see, they love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.” – Al Franken

I suppose following this metaphor the actual left, like anarchists, are the people who realize that sometimes people don’t get over their toxic behavior and for those people you have to set strong boundaries and or cut them out of your life. It’s scary leaving someone you’ve known forever but sometimes it really is for the best

Good for him, but MAGA has no shame, and no ability to self-reflect or question motives. They would literally look in the mirror and love what they see. They outright refuse to consider that anyone kidnapped by ICE has no criminal record. Anything that goes against their view is “fake news”.

I agree with most of his points, but there is something about his delivery that I find a little obnoxious. I’m not sure he is going to effectively change people’s minds as much as he just appeals to the intellectual liberal crowd.

I try to avoid them as much as possible, usually.

I’m not saying he’s unusual for a 13 year old, just that writing articles about him like he’s a progressive silver bullet seems to be off the mark.

Well, yeah, but that was the “problem” with greta thunberg as well. And even if the person delivering the message is perfect and can’t be downplayed for any aspect of their appearance or delivery, maga just has to talk in a high pitched sarcastic voice that 'LibEraLs aLwaYs wAnt SucH StUpid THings!"

In my opinion, part of that attitude is a valid criticism. Republicans are good at constructing messages that appeal to the emotional and instinctual parts of the brain. A lot of democrats have been stuck in a pattern of indignation and admonishing, which is what I detect in this kids videos.

If you look at the last two promising progressive campaigns, they were ones that also figured out how to appeal to emotionality. Obama overcame a major establishment competitor with Hope, Change, and pop art. Bernie did better than any leftist has ever done by focusing on a battle against the elites that must be waged before it is too late.

It seems like the rallying cry is more effective for swing voters and nonvoters than intellectual outrage is.

Yep. The highest point of harris’ campaign was when walz got the ‘weird’ bit going. We (humanity) has to face the fact that we are mostly dumb, panicky animals that logic touches but doesn’t often guide.

What Republicans are good at is having a propaganda outlet lying to everyone that watches it for 30 years and is treated even by opponents as if it is a news source.

Ok but a big part of how that works is by convincing people that their emotional arguments are rational and that their opponents’ rational arguments are condescension and moral arguments are emotional

Color me not impressed. It’s just a bunch of surface level opinions I could rip off an hour of scrolling Lemmy comments, delivered in whiny kid voice. Clearly, anyone can spout off opinions.

The real magic happens when you have opinions, backed up with research, facts, & sources, you hear the other side, and you can defend your opinions logically & well.

      Whatever this is…it isn’t that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Who is still supporting Trump? All the americans i’ve spoke to online and irl agree that he’s an idiot. The majority of people who voted for him did because they deemed him the lesser evil candidate not because they actually support him.

Most of them aren’t though. They’re mid 50s now and are just angry about the youth and their feelings. They have been flying under the radar, because everyone blames Boomers/Millennials/Z. They liked angry music, but now live in the suburbs and own two homes. They didn’t have anything rough.

But that’s just the ones I know.

Yeah I’d say in many cases fair enough assessment except that I don’t think we are all down Gen Z; those folks are the ones who, unlike us, know what’s going on and will have to save everyone’s ass. The kids these days are all right by me.

And more to the point, pretty much every Gen X parent I know feels the same about Gen Z, the “kids these days.” Yeah, their way of life is a bit alien to us, but they skipped right over the sexism, racism, and classism that Gen X had to sort of bumble their way out of.
