Eh, it’s just about the taboo being exciting. It could’ve been anything else, somehow it landed on that. At this point it’s so oversaturated it feels like it’s weirder if the characters aren’t related. It’s also entirely possible that ceo of pornhub wants to fuck his kids, so they push for that. I think if we blame them directly they’d change that rather quickly and other porn sites would follow suit.

Nah, or at least, that wasn’t how it was intended. What I was saying is that the data set (people commenting on this post about their opinions on the matter) is biased by the fact that people who dislike it are much more likely to voice their opinions than those who like it, as dislike is the more socially acceptable position.

I’m not saying that your read of the data is biased. Rather, I’m saying that the data that you’re seeing is itself biased because it’s reliant on voluntary self-reporting; the fetish can be more common than you’d think and underrepresented here at the same time, because they’re not actually mutually exclusive if the sample isn’t a representative cross-section.

No it doesn’t. Not in the least.

It implies the comments you’re seeing are from people not into it, but the people who are into it simply won’t comment.

It says exactly nothing either way about you or any other specific person.

    You want a real answer?

I don’t give a shit about the “siblings” part. Half the time its on mute. Those videos just tend to have a setting I prefer with actresses who are way less doped up on plastic than a lot of other stuff.

Its basically the same idea as “amature” with actual camera work instead if a handicam on a tripod positioned 3 rooms away while ants fuck.

Honestly the only good thing about the UK banning step porn is that with any luck I can stop muting my porn. Seriously when they call each other bro, sis, mom or anything I get a soft-off.

They are only banning it if it also involves underage-play, whose ethical concerns are equivalent to animated child porn: no child is exploited in the making of it but it does promote pedophilia.

I’m indifferent to it. It’s more about the chemistry happening after the initial setup for me. As long as there’s some kind of setup and the actors seem to be enjoying it I’m not that picky. I assume that’s the case with most people while a subset are REALLY into it. Or maybe it’s the other way around and I’m the weird one. There’s a whole lot of other categories of porn that bother me way more than the step family shit.

In the US, if the actors were related, then that would be illegal. The characters being related is totally immaterial, though. If it was relevant, then certain scenes in Game of Thrones would have been illegal. The law says nothing about fictional siblings getting it on, just real ones.

Payment processors, on the other hand, care a lot.

          Depends on the country.

Only PIV sex is illegal for related people over here.

Anything else (anal, oral etc.) is a-OK for related people because there is no risk of children being conceived.

It is rather odd, 10, 15 years ago it was a thing but not the thing, now it is like a big percentage of all porn. And all porn is a very big thing, the internet is like over 50% porn thank god. Or thanks somebody. But 10 to 15 years ago it was like Russian porn sites that were doing the step incest thing, now it’s everyone. Go figure I don’t know.

I am not straight, nor do I have siblings. Rationally I don’t really see why there would be an issue with siblings having sex recreationally without producing children, which wouldn’t even be an issue with step siblings. With step parents the age difference might also be acceptable. Edit: not really, since the age difference between the parent and step parent would then likely be an issue. Also I intentionally did not exclude the possibility that it could be an issue. But the other power dynamics associated with step parents are obviously not negligible

Someone recently posted a Wikipedia link to an effect where people growing up together don’t feel sexual attraction to each other, which is the primary reason why I assume it is a taboo (I used to think it was because of the negative health effects for incestuous children), but so long as all involved parties consent I see no issue.

I most certainly was not trying to insinuate that. I was wondering if there was a constructed situation where it may be acceptable and I realized that the most obvious issue to me (age gap) is not necessarily an issue and noted that at the end of the paragraph.

I did not realize how it would be misinterpreted but in hindsight I get it.

Depending on the age range? Its perfectly fine. Hell one of my newish neighbors is one such couple. Dudes dad was dating a women 9 years his junior. They divorced after two years if i recall and his son got together with her and got married.

They been together now like 20 years. He was 22ishand she was like 41ish if I recall right when they got married. He’s now in his 40s and she’s in her 60s.

They are fantastic neighbors. But to be fair was a weird story the first time I heard it from em.

And to be fair they arnt even the largest age gap couple I know. One of my mother’s friends is married to a dude that’s like 80 and she’s 50 they been together for 15 years.

It’s not about the age range - it’s about the step-parent being a parent to a child and then deciding to have a sexual relationship with that person.

Of course there’s circumstances where a step-parent was never actually in a position where they were parenting their partner’s children and it wouldn’t be as abusive to pursue them after a break up. But that’s the exception to the rule.

Given that apart from memes about porn I have never heard of it even supposedly happening it seems unnecessary to make a generalized assumption. That’s my realistic take, same goes for all the arguably more interesting polyamorous relationship constellations I’ve thought of that are however otherwise unrelated.

I also may have forgotten that step siblings are already long gone. Gosh, what has this conversation become.

Wait, why exactly? I can see it being a problem in some cases but I wouldn’t assume that it is generally a problem. The way I see it it is just two people who are loved ones of a common other (which is not uncommon in polyamorous relationships as far as I know) and the power dynamics would be dependent on those relationships, of which I would assume there is no inherently more powerful one.

The acceptable age ranges do imply something icky between the parent and step parent though.

I should also note that I have not had step parents or children at any point in my life so far and may be unaware of otherwise obvious things.

It’s the power dynamics. A step-parent is in a position of greater power than the child of their partner. It is incredibly unethical to use that position to persuade a younger person to have sex with them.

It would be weird and fucked up, possibly abusive.

But if it’s abusive, it’s already illegal and no sexual act should be illegal just because I consider it weird.

Might even be unconstitutional to make sex between (adult) step-parents and their children illegal but I’m not sure.

The US does not consider human rights to exist, of course abuse is legal there. Might as well cite Medieval Europe as an example for the legality of torture.

Besides, I was referring to step-parents and adult non biological children having sexual intercourse. In every case where that is abusive, it is rape which is illegal already.
